Felecia and Chris’s intimate maternity session at their Collegeville home was a beautiful, emotional doozy, friends. Felecia cried, I cried, and Chris quietly snuck out of the room during the tears.

When we first connected through the incredible Amber over at Mane.tamed Bridal, Felecia told me about her vision for a low key snuggle sesh at home with her man and her pups. Absolutely, love it, no biggie. We chatted outfits, and decided we would borderline boudoir it up for this baby with a few comfy outfit choices.

I was wildly unprepared for the whirlwind of emotion we went through photographing these images. Holding onto the very first few images of their baby boy ever taken, I asked Felecia how she felt. Felecia shared with me their incredible journey through IVF. After such a long time trying to get pregnant, running themselves into the ground with sadness and disappointment, Chris and Felecia were coming to the conclusion that maybe this pregnancy was never going to happen. They spent their savings, sacrificed a “normal” lifestyle, and over and over took a brave chance only to be met with heartbreak. As our tears start flowing, Felecia gripped her ultrasound photos and said, “People were like… are you sure this is worth it?”

It was worth it. Felecia spoke about her little one like he was a true miracle— which, he is— and it made my entire heart swell. Looking at her photos of the embryo, of just that tiny little speck, was such an incredible realization that life is so undoubtedly precious and fragile and wonderful. All at the same time. We forget that too often.

Babies are some of the truest forms of magic in our world. I’m so honored to have been able to capture these final moments with a family of two. Welcome to the world, Everett!
