Erin and Kyle’s Duportail House wedding was as unique and eclectic as they are. When we met for engagements at Rail Park in Philadelphia, I instantly could feel how much their love revolves around creativity and having fun together. Erin showed up in a polka dot dress with ruby red lipstick (I lost my mind, she looked amazing!), tightly clutching their equally unique looking dog, Scout. Yes, she’s the coolest dog. Yes, I wanted to steal her! I noticed right away that Erin’s ring was definitely different, and when I asked Kyle about it he informed me that he had it custom made to suit Erin completely.
The couple shared an easy going first look at Valley Forge in front of the iconic Chase Knox Estate greenhouse and then headed to the Duportail House for a sweet ceremony in the venue’s Federal Barn— which is only a two hundred year old structure, so no big deal.
There was no officiant to wed them in front of their closest friends and family. Kyle and Erin joined each other through a self uniting ceremony that followed a traditional Quaker script, put together by the couple. The guests at self uniting ceremonies are sometimes asked to vow to assist and support the couple in their marriage, and to witness such a strong sentimental tradition is truly moving when you’re standing behind everyone shooting from a corner (that’s me, hi!) Once Erin and Kyle exchanged rings, melted down from their family’s jewelry pieces, I just about lost it. YOU’RE TOO MUCH, you guys.
Long tables and greenery greeted their guests for dinner under July stars. Guests helped themselves to tall glasses of a home-brew, made by Kyle. The Duportail House offered such a whimsical layout to compliment every carefully curated detail. Kyle and Erin specifically saw to it that every aspect of their wedding mirrored their personalities and their love, together. The entire day was an amazing blend of Kyle’s interests with Erin’s gorgeous flair. Of course, it was not without it’s quirks— Erin had to cut herself out of her pajamas, a bridesmaid dress got stuck in a car door, and the future Mrs. Oram got to “ice” her groom. All of these things, and a little “jawn,” are dutifully captured below.
