“I married her years ago.” I heard George tell that to one of their guests and then I cried and totally fogged up the camera.
George and Jess’s wedding was one of my favorites. I’ve said this before, but if you ever get lonely, just go to an Irish wedding. You’ll make new relatives. Jess and George are the warmest people you may ever meet; their beautiful DIY’ed wedding was a formality. If it hadn’t happened, the only difference would be that there wouldn’t be a bunch of tents in their backyard. A lot of couples forget the purpose of a wedding— to celebrate a commitment, one that should already be made long before the napkins and the music and the colors and the dresses are picked out. George and Jess’s gorgeous celebration simply opened a door to friends and family to share the love they had already promised to share with each other. I’ve said this as well, but I’ve shot enough couples to know it’s still true and definitely applies— few people can turn a backyard into a ballroom just by dancing in it. To me, that makes all the difference.
